Job Summary
The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering is seeking an Accounting Manager. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Fiscal Administration and be the guiding hand that ensures accuracy, allowability, and verifiability simultaneously providing financial guidance to Faculty and other administrators within the college.
Essential Functions
Exercises primary responsibility over the accounting, reporting, budgeting, and monitoring of all financial matters for the college. Ensures that generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), regulations governing not-for-profit corporations, and University policies and procedures are followed for managing, processing, and recording all transactions.
Develops, implements, and maintains fiscal policies and procedures, which ensure that generally accepted accounting principles, contractual agreements, federal and state regulations and Auburn University guidelines are employed. Regularly reviews and modifies internal controls as operations and systems evolve to ensure the integrity of financial data and the protection of assets.
Assists management and departmental accountants on complex fiscal matters, budget considerations, and other fiscal matters, including financing construction, calculates projections and other strategic financial matters. Oversees and assists with long-term financial planning, analytics, and performance modeling for future ventures and projects in Engineering.
Reviews budgets and financial statements for accuracy and directs and oversees the distribution of funds for various college initiatives. This position will also provide financial guidance and coordination to units as they execute various projects with the departments and college.
Act as a financial liaison between the central Engineering Business Office and other central units across campus.
Provide dotted-line guidance to accountants in the seven academic departments as well as the administrators in Student Services, Recruiting Scholarships and K-12 Outreach, the Academic Excellence Program, Career Development and Corporate Relations, the University Co-op program, and the Maker Space.
Facilitate post award compliance and assurance by assisting with quarterly effort certifications related to sponsored programs for central engineering units, centers, and institutes. This position will review quarterly efforts and communicate with unit directors to ensure accuracy of certifications.
