Position Summary:

Within the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), and under the supervision of the Post Award Manager and Associate Director, the Associate Sponsored Programs Administrator (ASPA) is a training-level position under the University of Idaho's proposal submission and grants and contracts management units. University faculty and staff create proposals to external agencies to fund projects for research, instruction, and public service/other. The Office of Sponsored Programs is responsible for ensuring the responsible stewardship of research funding, and overseeing the submission of proposals by reviewing those proposals to ensure compliance with federal, State, University and sponsor regulations and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Associates degree in a relevant field or higher education coursework in accounting or business administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience related to research administration (i.e. research administration, administration of sponsored programs, and/or writing grant proposals).
Experience using the Microsoft Office suite of software programs, particularly Word and Excel.
Ability to:
Effectively communicate and negotiate both orally and in writing with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a respectful and professional manner.
Make sound independent decisions by researching and analyzing information, and applying policies and procedures using available resources.
Set priorities and work comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and the public.
Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, to multitask and to complete tasks with multiple interruptions and distractions.
Attend trainings, complete coursework, and travel to conferences as part of a developmental plan for the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors degree.
Knowledge of University policies and guidelines governing sponsored projects, including familiarity with federal and state regulatory and compliance issues affecting universities.
Knowledge of contracting, subcontracting, and grant policies and procedures.
Experience with proposal preparation, including assisting in the development of proposal applications and budgets.
Experience and familiarity with the programs and processes of granting agencies, including federal and State agencies, and corporate and private sponsors.
Experience working with the Banner finance and accounting system.
Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
Ability to work in a team oriented atmosphere.
