Overview
Under limited supervision, provides advanced library support and customer service for unit(s) of library.
What You'll Do
Performs advanced library support work which may include some/all of the following:
- Provides advanced customer service for internal and external constituents, assists with access to resources and services, communicates, explains and interprets library policies and procedures, provides advanced technical support and problem solving and makes appropriate referrals. Answers phone and responds to email and/or chat inquiries.
- Processes checkouts and returns, renewals, recalls, holds and fines
- Provides reference and research service for constituents
- Assists constituents with circulating materials
- Coordinates document delivery processing
- Processes reserve reading lists and materials for courses
- Records and processes serials; identifies and resolves serial receipt problems; claims missing/damaged issues and resolves problems with subscriptions
- Performs original cataloging; evaluates and adapts records according to cataloging rules and standards
- Verifies bibliographic information and creates records
- Creates and updates documentation for unit
Coordinates space and materials:
Maintains collections including oversight of shelving, condition and organization; prepares, receives and tracks materials from bindery; oversees relocation of stacks materials, weeding and shelf reading. Troubleshoots computer and technical problems and handles triage with IT. Orders and maintains supplies.
Compiles and maintains statistics for unit.Coordinates coverage for unit:
Schedules, trains and may hire student workers. Coordinates assignments and workflow. Responds to space and facilities issues as needed.
Participates on and may lead library projects, teams and committees:
Attends meetings, takes notes, gathers information or data for projects, shares findings and expertise and participates in planning.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- Associate degree
- 3-5 years of related experience
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office suite
- Knowledge and experience with library management systems and technologies and resource management functions
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills; accuracy and attention to detail
- Good research and problem-solving skills
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
Hours: Sunday – Thursday, 1pm-9pm
