The School of Business at the University of California, Riverside is a nationally ranked and internationally recognized AACSB-accredited business school. Under the general supervision of the CFAO, the incumbent is primarily responsible for providing financial analysis, reporting, processing, and managing travel requests from faculty and staff, reimbursement related to travel (Concur), and general financial operational support to the faculty and administrative staff. The Financial Analyst has primary responsibility for understanding and implementing the appropriate chart of account code (COA) on all financial transactions. Ensures appropriate funding availability for faculty and unit resources. The incumbent must understand and implement policies and procedures related to all procurement, entertainment, and travel transactions and reporting. This incumbent will be a backup for procurement, and non-travel epay reimbursement transactions and analysis. This incumbent will be responsible for front desk duties and general administrative support to the School.
As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. Key Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision, responsible for providing analytical support for simple to moderate budget, financial or resource analysis projects.
- The incumbent is primarily responsible for providing financial analysis, reporting, processing, and managing travel requests from faculty and staff, reimbursement related to travel (Concur), and general financial operational support to the faculty and administrative staff. Managing travel planning request (ie seminar, faculty recruitment visits) Ensures appropriate funding availability for faculty and unit resources.candidate, as well as compiling all the required documentation for the hiring process. Advise and assist the search committee as needed
- Maintains department chart of accounts, and related business processes.
- The Financial Analyst has primary responsibility for understanding and implementing the appropriate chart of account code (COA) on all financial transactions including but not limited to travel, reimbursement, Purchase order P.O., payment procedures (ie invoices processing)
- Follows procedures to ensure internal controls are maintained to protect University resources.
- Maintain current knowledge of the campus's financial applications and policies related to travel, procurement, and reimbursement. The incumbent will be the subject matter expert in Concur.
- Support the Dean's suite on greeting visitors and provide general information, directions and answer questions as needed. Receive and distribute mail on a daily basis. Responsible for management of internal parking and conference calendars for the school. Maintain office supply inventory. Responsible for managing the key inventory, distribution and maintenance of key log. Other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for web recharge processing through campus, including but not limited to P&R, FLEET, Facilities, TAPS)
- Analyzes financial and/or resource data; prepares and summarizes information and reports. NOTE: Financial and/or resource analysis could include budgetary analysis, financial analysis, forecasts, projections, staff or faculty salary or FTE analysis, student enrollment analysis, recharge or general rate analysis (parking rates, copier rates, capital project rates, student health charges) student fees (self-supporting programs, professional school fees, course material fees, etc.), contracts and grants analysis, endowment income, fungibility of funds, working capital, depreciation, new building funds, etc.
- Responsible for providing basic reports from various financial applications that support the finance analyst II in their reconciliations.
- Responsible for management of mailing processes and procedure to include FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc
- Provide backup to Purchasing analyst on procurement activities and epay as needed.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Experience
0 - 1 years of related experience.
Minimum Requirements
Basic knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Basic proficiency using spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Basic interpersonal skills; broad service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Under management guidance, uses organizational skills to multi-task in a high-volume environment. Ability to function as a member of a team. Basic knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. Acquiring ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
