Overview

Research Administration makes research possible. The Research Administrator I will play an important role as part of the Research Administration Core Unit within the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University (HNRCA). HNRCA investigators conduct advanced studies on nutrition and aging. Their research focuses on determining the optimal nutrient profile necessary to promote well-being for older adults.


What You'll Do

This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.

 

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Research Administration, team members in the core unit provide research administration and budget management support to a portfolio of research laboratories and investigators at the HNRCA.

The Research Administrator I is responsible for:

  • Providing hands-on active day-to-day support, including facilitation of investigator engagement with research support office
  • Administering standard portfolio of sponsored awards
  • Working with faculty to develop and prepare sponsored proposals
  • Assisting the PI (Principal Investigator) in fiscal management of their research portfolio
  • Managing post-award compliance activities
  • Acting as point of contact with Central Administration in pre-award and post-award matters


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 0-2 years of administrative, grants or other relative experience
  • Knowledge of funding agencies and their programs
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite including (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of regulations that govern federal research funding and related areas of regulatory compliance
  • Experience using electronic grants management systems (i.e., grants.gov, NIH eRA Commons, NSF Fastlane, ProposalCentral, etc.) or ability to learn these and other applicable systems

Special Work Schedule Requirements:

May be required to attend meetings in various campus locations.
