This position is essential to the day to day operations of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. The position is critical to providing service to the department chair and faculty with funded projects. This position provides support such as answering the phones, filing, data entry, monitoring of budgets, assisting with hiring and payroll
documents, purchasing, and other functions critical to the success of the department. Prepare, manage, and coordinate calendar, meeting schedules, travel plans, and briefing documents to facilitate productivity, efficiency, and timeliness. Answer calls and maintain the faculty members’ calendars using discretion to determine priority status, triage requests, accept and decline invitations, schedule/reschedule meetings as needed and refer as appropriate. Selects meeting locations and coordinates logistics (catering, AV, parking). Conducts contingency planning, arranges agendas, prepares meeting materials, etc. Greets guests, assists faculty members in staying on schedule. Prepares requested documents in Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and Excel. Tracks and follows up to meetings. Develops and implements protocols for managing record keeping, time keeping, billing, collections, and other accounting related to department matters. Will have office management role overseeing students (including approving time worked and interpreting and communicating faculty member’s policies), and will exercise discretion in hiring students.
