Overview

The Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) within the Office of the Provost is responsible for providing vision, leadership, and oversight of the faculty, staff, and student experience through the following key areas: best practices; communication and community building; programming; strategy and evaluation; and training and education. The Office of the Vice Provost for DEIJ works with other university DEIJ leaders across the institution to develop and implement the institution’s strategy, processes, and infrastructure related to building a more diverse and inclusive learning, teaching, research, and workplace community.


What You'll Do

The Execuitve Assistant position provides complex executive administrative support and plays a crucial role in the successful operation of the office and, by extension, the organization. Duties of the job are broad and encompass the following:

  • manage and prioritize communications with internal and external constituencies;
  • organize and plan logistics of meetings, retreats and events;
  • edit, proofread, and compose correspondence and reports;
  • participate in or manage projects for the executive’s office;
  • and organize and plan complex travel arrangements.

 

This individual anticipates the needs of the office and manages and prioritizes workflow. They help the Vice Provost for DEIJ make the best use their time by ensuring that work is handled efficiently and with minimal supervision.


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Associates degree with 7+ years of related experience or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication, and analytical and problem-solving skills. Discretion, integrity, stamina, mature judgment, ability to work under pressure, and a good sense of humor. Demonstrated ability in financial management, ability to multi-task and to work effectively with a wide range of individuals, from trustees, advisors and heads of major international organizations to students from cultures across the globe.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to DEIJ.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and familiarity with Tufts working environment. Previous experience working in DEIJ related areas and in higher related education settings.

 

Special Work Schedule Requirements:

  • Evening and weekend work required from time to time.
