Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Reconcile assigned bank accounts on a monthly basis Agree cash receipts and disbursement in the general ledger to activity on bank statements Reconcile gifts revenues and general ledger accounts Investigate accounts differences and prepare journal entries as appropriate Forecast and analyze short-term cash receipts as part of the overall cash position Periodically perform and assist with a physical inventory of plant assets Assist with the reconciliation of construction projects and movable equipment Account for transactions related to accounts payable and prepare supporting schedules Maintain a copy of the grant invoices initiated and input them in the software package to generate an aged receivable for grants Research grant activities as assigned Prepare and post journal entries as needed Reconcile petty cash Allocate utilities and overhead Investigate and submit unclaimed cash to the Alabama Department of Revenue Assist in the preparation of financial statement Prepare schedules for the preparation of 990 tax returns Complete state, county and city monthly sales tax reports and submit associate payments for such Assist and serve as backup for the payroll function Prepare audit schedules and other information as required Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field A minimum of three years’ experience as an accountant Master’s degree in accounting/business or a CPA designation may substitute for one year of experience Two years of College/University or not-for-profit accounting experience (desired) Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written Ability to exercise analytical skills Experience with computerized office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word Ellucian experience (desired) Provide excellent customer service in a courteous manner Must be a team player

Salary
Commensurate with education, training and experience
