Position Summary

The Department of Art in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University at Buffalo is seeking an Art Resources Manager. This position is housed in the Department of Art and would serve Art and, on occasion, other departments in the College (in consultation with the Department Chair and dependent on workload). Duties and responsibilities are to manage and maintain resources (equipment, digital resources, etc.) to directly support the education, instruction, and creative missions of the Art Department.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
    • Maintain Art Department Archive.
    • Maintain the Art Department Website and Social Media presence.
    • Manage the Art Department Gallery and Project Space, including exhibition install/deinstall.
    • Supervise Circulation of Art Department Equipment and Manage Digital Asset System.
    • Provide technology support and setup for lectures and events.
    • Assist in instructional media support for faculty and instructors, including in improving their information literacy.
    • Maintain knowledge of current copyright law and industry standards regarding the use, storage, and distribution of digital media.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 years experience with professional imaging and design hardware, software, and techniques in both Windows and Mac platforms.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: instructional media technology support; visual media archiving, library informatics, graphic design, art gallery management, web design and social media outreach.
  • Ability to work with detail-oriented, highly organized databases, demonstrated management experience, and communication skills. Experience with professional imaging and design hardware, software, and techniques in both Windows and Mac platforms; experience with relational databases; experience with copyright laws and best practices; basic competence in photography and video; proficiency with internet resources and usage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Degree concentration in informatics, digital media, educational technology, graphic design, communications, art, art history, or library science.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to position self to transport artwork and ascend/descend ladders and scaffolds to manage Department Gallery spaces.
  • Must be able to install audio and video recording equipment up to 50 pounds with the assistance of a dolly/cart, for extended periods of time.
