Position Summary

The Graduate Studies Coordinator for the Social Sciences Sector and the Department of Sociology serves a vital role in promoting the educational and career success for students in the new MS in Criminology Program. As Graduate Studies Coordinator you will provide excellent customer service to various populations.

Duties include (but are not limited to):
    • Serve as primary administrative contact for MS in Criminology graduate students from the time of application, during the admission cycle, acceptance, arrival and throughout the duration of their program of study to conferral.
    • Provide professional administrative support to the Director of the MS in Criminology Program, Director of Graduate Studies, Department Chair, Graduate Coordinator, and Department Administrator, in all aspects of student management (including recruitment) and coordinating the MS in Criminology Program for the Department. This also includes exam preparation, course registration, major paperwork change, assistance with AAR reports, curricula exceptions, transfer articulation requests, and recruitment efforts, among others.
    • Serve as the point of contact for MS Criminology graduate students. Update student information in the appropriate university system(s), degree audits, assist directors with coordination of open house and other university or departmental functions.
    • Compile and maintain current and prospective graduate student files in consultation with Academic Advisors. This includes maintaining spreadsheets and databases for student grades, honors records, and reports.
    • Interface with Graduate Recruitment Team in the College of Arts and Sciences to support graduate recruitment for the MS in Criminology and additional graduate programs in the Social Sciences Sector.
    • Maintain and support all online components of the program ensuring information is accurate and timely.
    • May provide some general office support such as answering phones, mailing, copying, typing of letters, scheduling and processing of necessary departmental paperwork

Qualified candidates will possess current communication and computing skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates Degree and two years of professional administrative experience.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong and current computing skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability and eagerness to learn new systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Administrative experience in an academic setting and experience with University systems (HUB and SLATE) preferred.
