Department Summary
The Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) is a unique residential Program for high school-aged Texas students who are high achievers and interested in mathematics and science. While living on campus in McConnell Hall, students in this two-year program complete a rigorous academic curriculum of college coursework at the University of North Texas (UNT). Instruction is by University faculty. There are no high school courses taught, but students enjoy many of the activities of high school and the company of age mates who are intellectual peers.
Position Overview
Provide academic advising and academic support to students in the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science; co-coordinate the TAMS Early Start Program each Summer; and, co-coordinate the College Bootcamp Workshop series every other Summer.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree and four years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, professional academic advising, or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
—Academic advising in higher education, especially in STEM disciplines
—Teaching experience in higher education and/or public secondary education (grades 9-12)
—Experience working with gifted and talented students
