Systems Administrator II, III - IT Services

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time


The IT Department at UVU is looking to hire a Windows Systems Administrator. The successful candidate will administer and maintain enterprise level IT systems, which may include server hardware, system software, and applications. Under minimal direction, provides technical expertise in development and implementation of long range technology solutions, assists with the installation and maintenance of server system hardware. Administers the utilization and administration of Office 365, resolves system resource issues, virtualization performance and supports technical staffs. Coordinate and communicate with IT staff and department users. Writing scope of work on technical requisitions, and work with contract admins of RFPs. Maintain a relationship with strategic vendors and working directly with manager on a finite number of budget items.

Required Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelors degree in Information Technology or related field plus one year of job related experience or any combination of higher education and work experience totaling five years related to Information Technology, one of which must be directly related to the administering and maintaining of enterprise level IT systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office 365 Enterprise (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, etc.), as well as MS Windows OS.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Server 2016.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of networking principles, and security practices in systems monitoring and log reviews.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (i.e. Azure, AWS, Google).
  • Skills with scripting (i.e. PowerShell, Python, etc.) using MS Systems Centers Tools and utilities.
  • Skills with systems development, techniques, and documentations requests
  • Skills with long range systems planning for automated systems design and program development, current hardware and software applications and system implementation.
  • Knowledge of technological advances in the computer industry.
  • Knowledge of VMware related tools and utilities.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, coordinate and communicate about changes, and write up plans.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, as well as work with vendors to find solutions.
  • Ability to work within a team environment to support systems and solve problems collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:

MCSE Certification

Physical Requirements:

Requires talking, hearing, seeing continuously and fine hand manipulation, walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, bending, grasping, pulling and climbing frequently. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Pay Range: $38,062 - $64,157
