The California Policy Lab (CPL) is a public policy research center based at UC Berkeley and UCLA. CPL creates data-driven insights for the public good. Our mission is to improve the lives of Californians by generating evidence that transforms public policy. We do this by forming lasting partnerships between the government and California's flagship public universities to help evaluate and improve public programs through rigorous empirical research and technical assistance.

The Lab launched in January 2017 and now has a $5.5 million annual budget and three dozen staff across two sites. We have developed new research infrastructure that unlocks the power of administrative data in the world's fifth largest economy and established research partnerships with Government agencies to address California's most urgent issues, including homelessness, poverty, crime, and education inequality.

The Operations Director will join at a critical juncture in our development and help the UC Berkeley Lab grow. This is an exciting opportunity for a people and process leader with a passion for public policy to scale our organization, optimize our operations, help us change the landscape of policy-relevant research and improve the lives of Californians.
