Position Status: Full-Time

Position Summary:

Athletics. The Assistant Athletic Trainer assists the Head Athletic Trainer in administering programs of injury prevention and injury care for all student-athletes; proactively assures maximum safety of all athletics participants; assists with Women's Basketball program and oversees Volleyball program; and follows Federal, Divisional and University athletics regulations, to include rules and regulations established by SunBelt Conference (SBC), and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA.).

Essential Functions
  • Creates comprehensive sports medicine health care program in regards to injury prevention, treatment of injuries, and post injury rehabilitation.
  • Assists in daily management and operation of athletics training room; maintains a detailed log of athletic injuries/illnesses; works closely with team physician and all medical specialists.
  • Serves as clinical instructor in Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Athletic Training Curriculum.
  • Supervises and evaluates performance of undergraduate and graduate athletic training student employees.
  • Acts as University representative at meetings, open houses, and recruitment events.
  • Performs related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University.

Minimum Education Required:

Bachelors Degree; license to practice athletic training in the state of Georgia; current NATABOC (National Athletic Training Association Board of Certification) certification; CPR/AED certified

Effective communication skills (verbal and written); developed organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; legally authorized to work in the United States; and successful completion of background investigation prior to employment
