Position Summary
Under the general leadership of the University at Buffalo’s Vice President for University Advancement and the Associate Vice President for Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving, the Engagement Assistant will be responsible for supporting the overall alumni engagement activities and programs of the university. The Assistant will:

  • Engage UB graduates and other key constituencies (i.e. parents, friends, community stakeholders, etc.) in an effort to connect them more strongly with the university. Engagement strategies include in-person events, virtual events, lifelong learning, volunteer opportunities and alumni career services.
  • Support the coordination and logistical planning of alumni events including event registration, email invitations, name badge management, onsite event management, and post-event wrap-up/follow-up.
  • Assist with development of alumni engagement initiatives in geographic regions including relationship building with volunteers to achieve goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience in one, or a combination, of the following areas (1) alumni engagement, (2) event management, (3) volunteer management, (4) higher education, or (5) relevant experience in a business setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and to achieve operational goals.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a wide array of individuals on projects and programs.
  • Ability to work closely with volunteers to deepen their connection to the university.
  • Solid, general knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and data systems experience.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed and requested.
