Job Summary
Simmons University is looking for an Internal Digital Content Specialist to join the Marketing and Communications department. Reporting to the Senior Director of Online Communication and Design, the Digital Content Specialist will lead, develop, and promote engaging content within and across the Simmons' community. From updating current and developing new web and social media content, to designing and managing internal email communication guidelines and style, the Digital Content Specialist will play a critical role in enhancing the internal communication channels at Simmons.

The ideal candidate will be a creative, detail-oriented professional with basic HTML, graphic design, page layout and writing experience. This individual must have experience using email and web editing tools in a professional capacity. This individual will be self-directed, but also value teamwork and collaboration. Responsibilities:
  • Managing editor for bi-weekly internal newsletter, working with campus partners to uncover stories, writing content and distribution;
  • Lead and manage the review and distribution process of internal content, including maintaining mailing lists and groups;
  • Lead and implement efficiencies in the internal email communication process, creating layouts and ensuring the effective communication of information;
  • Design and create layout decisions for internal newsletters and portal;
  • Draft and publish content for internal staff, faculty, and student audiences;
  • Review and analyze metrics from communication initiatives to inform strategy and approach, integrating industry best practices and trends;
  • Manage internal email vendor relationship;
  • Assist with additional communication needs as necessary.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field;
  • 2+ years of related professional experience, including html, writing/editing, and graphic design;
  • Experience working with email and social media tools in a professional environment
  • Knowledge of web writing and best practices for writing for the web
  • Familiarity with website navigation and usability; experience working within a content management system is preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects on deadline with a client-service orientation
