The Arts Collaboratory at the University at Buffalo in the College of Arts and Sciences is seeking an exceptional higher education administrator to play a vital role in creating and driving our program’s creative and strategic vision. The Arts Collaboratory is a strategic initiative of the State University of New York at Buffalo (University at Buffalo, UB) College of Arts and Sciences designed to foster an environment in which creative collaboration can flourish. The Arts Collaboratory brings UB and Buffalo-based artists together to spark innovation and share their work with the world.

The incumbent in this position is responsible for the co-development, design and delivery of original and compelling arts programming to support division-wide University at Buffalo artists-scholars. This position will be responsible for the art and design administration of multidisciplinary online and in-person cultural programs, events, workshops, exhibitions, installations and performances with professional faculty artists, student artists, and community artists. Responsibilities will include developing, designing and creating new art and cultural ideas, programs and products based on identified needs of the Division. This individual must be familiar with multiplatform digital storytelling, design, campaigns, video and film content development and production, and online art-training and technical tools, keeping current with and applying new technical knowledge to drive innovation.

As an education administrator, the individual will be highly creative, team-oriented, and an active participant in developing an ongoing artistic content market strategy that will help shape the overall art experience and art education among all community members. The ideal candidate will be both organized and creative: keeping ideas fresh and innovative whilst remaining focused on educational results.

The responsibilities will include:

  • Provide creative direction, design leadership, technical expertise and quality control over all artistic contributions, projects and content for the Arts Collaboratory’s social media, website and other digital channels along with in-person programs.
  • Collaborate with internal and external members on the development, design and creation of new art and cultural ideas, programs and products for the College and local community.
  • Design, produce and implement multidisciplinary online and in-person cultural programs, events, workshops, exhibitions, installations and performances with professional faculty artists, student artists, and community artists.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Arts Collaboratory leadership to strategically engage and advance the mission of the arts at UB.
  • Partner with the Arts Collaboratory’s leadership to continually refine how its programs are creatively, effectively and strategically marketed in coordination with wider UB educational goals.
  • Unify Arts Collaboratory’s strategy and messaging via all forms of visual media, including graphic design, photography, and film and video for a distinct visual "look and feel."
  • Establish guidelines based on best practices for the Arts Collaboratory’s visual identity, including multimedia presentations, typography, logo, web pages, promotional products, brochures, newsletters and briefings.
  • Storyboard, line-produce, direct, and edit advertising material to communicate the Arts Collaboratory’s seasonal themes and campaigns.
  • Educate and advise student and community artists on artistic contributions, sharing best practices and technical knowledge to advance individual projects and Arts Collaboratory programming.
  • Compile and utilize analytics to create and deliver a marketing approach for the Arts Collaboratory target audience on digital platforms, including web and social media.
  • Manage multiple projects while working under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

University at Buffalo is an affirmative action-equal opportunity employer and, in keeping with our commitment, welcomes all to apply including veterans and individuals with disabilities.
