Overview
The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Grafton, Massachusetts supports faculty and student endeavors in the classroom and across campus. The OAA ensures excellence in teaching in collaboration with academic and clinical departments, manages curriculum and program development, facilitates faculty development, maintains student information, scheduling, and grading systems, and provides support for the university learning management system and education tools. The OAA is currently engaged in development and implementation of a new Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) curriculum that will replace the current curriculum in August 2024.
What You'll Do
The Curriculum Administrator will be responsible to:
- Operationalize the new DVM curriculum elements in the redesign process.
- Provide recommendations, synthesize, and add new information to design or implementation plans to ensure horizontal and vertical integration across courses and threads.
- Serve as the primary resource on the curriculum for meetings with faculty, students, and alumni.
- Curriculum mapping: Incorporate new information and revisions into a curriculum database and map learning objectives to American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) competencies;
- Conduct individual meetings with course directors and key faculty to review information.
- Faculty development in teaching: Work with faculty to develop their learning objectives. Oversight of short course offerings in the area of teaching for faculty.
- Manages and delivers faculty development programs for teaching and learning.
- Plans dates, determines venues, coordinates materials, and tracks faculty completions
- Work with faculty to develop their course learning objectives aligned with the current and new curriculum and recommend appropriate university supported tools and technology used for education for course delivery
- Evaluates the feedback from workshop sessions to incorporate improvements/enhancements where needed
- Works collaboratively with the Registrar to identify and resolve any course and exam scheduling challenges/conflicts, and with Facilities and Tufts Technology Services to address any problems with learning and teaching spaces and equipment.
What We're Looking For
Basic requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field
- 3-5 years of experience working in higher education in curriculum management
- Able to work on-site and in-person at the Grafton campus
- Excellent knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to prioritize and organize workflow and effectively change priorities and direction.
- Must be an effective communicator with a keen sense of how to maintain excellent relationships.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and balance multiple stakeholders
- Must be committed to a culture of diversity, equity, respect, and inclusion; demonstrated ability to build working relationships with people having a wide variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences different from one's' own.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Education
- Advanced level of proficiency with learning management systems (Canvas), and tools and technology used for education.
- Five+ years of progressive curriculum experience in a higher education setting
- Experience with curriculum mapping software
Pay Range
Minimum $51,400.00, Midpoint $64,250.00, Maximum $77,100.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
