This is a limited term position ending January 31, 2021. This is a part-time position working 21 hours per week. This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.

This mission is fulfilled by bringing together experts from the areas of clinical nutrition, social and public policy, and biomedicine. Faculty at the school include biomedical scientists, economists, epidemiologists, nutritionists, physicians, political scientists and psychologists who focus on a myriad of issues with the common thread of nutrition and its role in fostering the growth and development of human populations.
The United States Agency for International Development’s Office of Food for Peace (USAID/FFP) awarded the Food Aid Quality Review (FAQR) Phase III contract to Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy for the period covering February 1, 2016 to January 31, 2019 with two option years (February 1, 2019 to January 31, 2021). FAQR seeks to provide USAID and its partners with actionable recommendations on ways to improve nutrition among vulnerable people for whom the direct distribution of food aid can make a significant impact. The first phases of FAQR involved reviews of nutrition science; FAQR Phase I recommendations were published in Improving the Nutritional Quality Of U.S. Food Aid: Recommendations For Changes To Products And Programs.
FAQR Phase III focuses on generating links between research on food product formulation with recommendations on cost-effective programming and policy-level action among national and multilateral institutions engaged in food assistance. The second option year will build on activities from the base period and the first option year and seek to provide USAID/FFP and partners with tools and resources to implement findings and recommendations from FAQR Phase III. The Friedman School will work closely with several key domestic and international collaborators, USAID, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and with United Nations (UN) partners, all of whom are committed to strengthening the evidence base for use of specialized food products for targeted nutrition goals. The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the FAQR Project Manager to provide administrative support to the FAQR project. Duties will include: arranging travel and visas for FAQR team members and guests, preparing and processing travel reimbursement requests, organizing meetings and booking conference rooms, arranging catering and audiovisual services for meetings and events, participating in and taking notes in team meetings, assisting with the management of the project budget and tracking of expenditures, processing invoices and other financial transactions, assisting in the preparation and management of contracts, maintaining project records and financial data, drafting and formatting reports and other project documents, assisting with communications-related activities, and completing other administrative tasks, as needed. The Administrative Assistant must be capable of working with minimal supervision and in accordance with department and sponsor rules and regulations.
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience.
Requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including word processing, editing, and graphics functions, and spreadsheet and database knowledge.
In addition, bookkeeping or basic accounting knowledge and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Previous studies, professional experience, or an interest in humanitarian assistance or global health and nutrition.
