Utah Valley University is looking for a Copywriter to represent the university's division ofStudent Affairs. Student Affairs strives to meet the needs of a diverse student populationthrough recruitment, admissions, financial aid, housing, multicultural and veteran studentservices, career development, and graduation offices.

This is an embedded position that operates under the purview of UVU's central Marketing andCommunications and serves as a dedicated Copywriter for Student Affairs. This position willwork collaboratively with central Marketing and Communications, which operates as a full-service agency within the university.
What you'll be doing:

    • Writes impeccable copy for a variety of platforms, including websites, social media, infographics, advertisements, and print materials.
    • Leads in creating, producing, managing, and consulting on written content for Student Affairs and collaborates with designers and project managers.
    • Crafts impactful messaging that resonates with students, staff, and local communities.
    • Edits written copy for accuracy, clarity, consistency, grammar, punctuation, style, and other considerations.
    • Develops written communication standards and style guides for marketing materials across the Student Affairs division.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelors degree, plus one year of marketing/design experience OR a combination of relevant education and experience totaling five years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal communication and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of print and product materials and working with vendors.
  • Fluent knowledge of the English language.
  • Knowledge of digital content production (HTML/CSS principles).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
  • Knowledge of higher education dynamics is a plus.
  • Excellent copy-editing skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong background in web and SEO-focused copy.
  • Experience writing creative content campaign copy.
  • Ability to write for a variety of platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate with other teams and university departments to produce impactful content.
  • Ability to adapt voice and tone to different audiences.
  • Ability to use electronic content-management tools.
  • Ability to interview sources for content.
  • Ability to produce copy quickly and write under deadline constraints.



Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelors degree and one year of experience in similar duties or an associate degree with three years of experience in similar duties or any combination of education and experience totaling five years.

Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in normal office environment.
