Position Summary

The Office of Study Abroad Programs at the University at Buffalo (UB) is seeking a self-motivated individual who enjoys a fast-paced, student-centered environment.

The Incoming Exchange Student Advisor will:
    • Liaise with overseas university partners and with various UB administrative and academic units to coordinate UB’s inbound exchange programs.
    • Serve as the primary advisor to students who study at UB under the auspices of bilateral exchange agreements or other specialized agreements.
    • Help develop and coordinate short-term and specialized programs for student groups on the UB campus and/or at other locations in the US.
    • Support administrative processes including student and course registration and course articulations, and managing program and student data.
    • Support outreach programming for the office and represent the Office of Study Abroad Programs at various promotional and outreach events.

 


This is a part-time position with flexible weekday work hours, and which may include occasional evening or weekend hours as needed to meet the position’s professional obligation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of directly related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience should include student programming and/or advisement responsibilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, as is an ability to communicate effectively with individuals from a wide variety of nations and cultures
  • Computer skills including word processing, database management, and use if internet and electronic mail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with deadlines simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior study abroad participation, or experience working internationally
  • Experience with program development and assessment
  • Prior experience with Terra Dotta Software or other on-line application management software packages.
