What You'll Do
The Associate Director of Admissions reports to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs of the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy (Friedman School) and partners with key stakeholders across the school to successfully recruit graduate students across the eight academic programs.
The Associate Director plays a key role in the recruitment and the admission of graduate students. This position is responsible for the creation and disseminating of information about the Friedman School domestically and internationally to attract the highest caliber applicants and to manage admissions process. The Associate Director will be responsible for implementing and executing recruitment and admissions strategies to achieve Friedman enrollment objectives, which will include actively recruiting minority students for a diverse student body. These strategies will include assisting with the management of the graduate career fairs travel schedule, coordination of information sessions and open houses. This position will manage the admissions process which includes working with prospective applicants through the process to becoming admitted students; overseeing the technical components of the online application and databases; and ensuring a fast, seamless application process by working with applicants, faculty and staff involved with the admissions process. The Associate Director will engage in on-going communications with prospective students through email, online marketing, mail, and telephone. This position will collaborate with program directors and department chairs to assure matriculation of the best candidates in the planned numbers for each program. The incumbent will manage communication between the Friedman School and the various Tufts University offices and schools involved with bringing in the incoming class of students.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- At least 5 years of experience in recruiting and admissions, preferably in a graduate school setting
- Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills, highly motivated, self-starter, detail-oriented, excellent prioritization
- Excellent communication, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Must have a problem-solving mindset and be proactive and resourceful in investigating and troubleshooting issues as they arise
- Must exercise good judgment while managing confidential and sensitive information
- Familiarity with Slate by Technolutions, PeopleSoft, Data Warehouse, and/or similar reporting systems
Master’s degree in a relevant field
