The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for Maintenance Trades Person / Building & Grounds in the Facilities Services Department, located at District Service Center, North. Hours are Monday-Friday; 6:00 AM-2:30 PM. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Major Responsibilities:


Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge: Applicable codes and regulations for plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, and other related building and grounds repair work. Building methods, tool usage, materials, equipment, and practices used in building and grounds maintenance repair work. Health and safety regulations. Safe work practices.

Skills and Abilities: Ability to estimate scope of work assigned. Ability to select proper tools, equipment, and materials for work completion. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Lift up to 90 lbs. Meet schedules and time lines. Operate a district vehicle efficiently and safely. Operate a variety of professional hand and power tools and equipment efficiently and safely. Understand and follow oral and written reports and directions. Work cooperatively with others. Work from drawings, blueprints, and sketches. Work independently and effectively in several building and grounds trades with little direction.

License: Valid California drivers license.

Training and Experience: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: five years of journey level experience in building construction or maintenance trades with two years of experience as a construction foreperson or lead/supervisor in construction or maintenance trades.


Pay Information:
Range 31 ($5,163.52- $ 8,242.15) per month based on the current Classified salary schedule. New employees will begin on Step A ($5,163.52), Step B ($5,421.70) with 18 months of verified, paid, full-time equivalent related job experience or up to Step C ($5,692.78) with 36 months of verified, paid, full-time equivalent related job experience. For purposes of salary placement, 7.5 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) of directly related coursework from a regularly accredited institution will be equivalent to one (1) year of job experience. Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA. This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime). Excellent Benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents. A temporary probationary period will apply to the employee entering this assignment.
