Overview
The Admissions and Student Services Technology team provides computer systems development and support to the Schools of Arts & Sciences and Engineering in Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Admissions, ASE Student Services (Registrar, Financial Services, Career Services, Student Affairs, Advising Deans, Student Services Records), and provides admissions technology support to six other schools at Tufts University including Fletcher, Cummings, GSBS, Friedman, Medical (PHPD) and University College. The team supports various systems/processes for the central Bursar team and the central marketing team, and in addition develops and supports multiple data integrations both internal and external to Tufts. The team develops custom web-based systems for enrolled Tufts students, staff, faculty, applicants and their families, prospective students, high school counselors and Tufts alumni. The department provides users with custom systems programming, database management/reporting, hardware and software support, and general systems support.
What You'll Do
The Programmer Analyst, as part of this technical team, works with department system users and other IT staff to support and enhance university business applications for Admissions and Student Services. Using standard development tools for custom solutions, as well as 3rd party vendor applications such as Technolutions Slate, this individual participates in the entire application development lifecycle which includes:
- Gathering and analyzing business requirements and data
- Updating, developing, implementing and testing application software
- Training users
- Analyzing potential causes of software and service problems and devising testing methodologies for correction and validation
- Troubleshooting user issues and documenting solutions
- Assisting with the exploration of new technologies and the design of software solutions for the user community
The Analyst operates with the intention of providing outstanding customer support, but also acts in the best long-term interest of the organization.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and 2+ years of technical development experience
- Individual must possess strong technical skills and experience developing custom user-friendly applications
- Demonstrated experience developing custom solutions within 3rd-party vendor software, including CRM software
- Proficiency in one or more of the following scripting language: C#, VB, ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC, Javascript
- Proficiency in SQL, Vendor software report-building, relational databases
- Must be able to work effectively in a team or independent setting
- Must have strong client relationship skills and strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients to understand and interpret their requirements
- Must be able to learn new technologies quickly, shift priorities quickly, and work with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Technolutions Slate strongly preferred
- Experience with API Data integration
- Experience with Data Warehouse
- Previous experience in higher education institutions
Salary Range
Minimum $75,200.00, Midpoint $94,050.00, Maximum $112,900.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
