The University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine, Offices of Medical Education invites applications for the position of Learning Specialist. The Learning Specialist develops and implements support services and enrichment programs for medical students at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Areas of responsibility include:
- implementing orientation activities for Year 1 students
- coaching of individual students
- developing a comprehensive peer tutoring program
The learning specialist does not need to be an expert in science or medicine, but does need a strong background in learning sciences, academic support for higher education students and a thorough understanding of the unique pressures and expectations of medical school. This position will also collaborate with the Office of Student and Academic Affairs, Accessibility Services, the Medical Education and Educational Research Institute (MEERI), the Office of Medical Curriculum, Counseling Services, teaching faculty members, and others as needed.
This position reports directly to the Senior Associate Dean for Student and Academic Affairs.
Salary: $60,000 – $70,000
