Position: Desktop Support Technician                                                                           
Department: Office of the Dean/College of Veterinary Medicine

Status: Full-time

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

Support development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware installations, advance on-site and virtual education, educational support, and work environment.
Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including off-site repair for remote users as needed.
Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user and network hardware, peripheral devices, printing/scanning devices, presentation equipment, software, and other products to meet the educational, educational support, and work needs.
Construct, install, and test customized configurations based on various platforms and operating systems.
Collaborate with I/T team members to ensure efficient operation of the TUCVM’s desktop computing environment supporting students, instruction, and work.
Where required, administer, and resolve issues with associated end-user workstation network software products.
Receive and respond to incoming calls, messages, and/or work orders regarding desktop support and problems.
Liaise, when necessary, with third-party support and PC equipment vendors to assist in the integration of hardware/software in compliance with TUCVM needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.


CompTIA A+, High School or Equivalent, Technical certification with one or more years’ experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience, CompTIA Network+) Preferred: ACSP (Apple Certified Support Personnel), 3+ years exp. working in higher education or a related field, computer related degree from a 4-year college or university.
Knowledge of current computer software, operating systems, hardware, and networking protocols.
Great problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with excellent verbal and written communication.
Experienced in providing professional and courteous customer service while working independently.
Extensive electronic equipment support experience combined with hands-on hardware troubleshooting knowledge.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language with a keen attention to detail.
Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals. Occasionally, some sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time.
