POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
The Administrative Secretary-Non Instructional position will provide direct support to the Director of Multicultural Programs and Services (MPS). They will assist the Director with all aspects of running a wide range of complex, categorical and grant-funded student support programs, services, and centers, including but not limited to the Culture and Community Center, UndocuCenter, Queer Resource Center, Umoja Program, Puente Program, Native American Center, and the International Student Program. The MPS Department works to secure the full range of resources, supports, and services necessary to provide opportunities to disproportionately impacted students, including those who are racially minoritized, LGBTQ+, and undocumented or from mixed-status families.
 
The successful candidate in this position will:
  • Demonstrate equity-mindedness by understanding the challenges faced by historically under-represented and marginalized students and have a commitment to working in a diverse higher educational environment.
  • Be capable of functioning as an integral member of a team that supports equity programs and projects across campuses.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of multiple large budgets including tracking expenditures, purchasing, paying invoices, projecting expenses, preparing budget transfers, and anticipating program needs.
  • Utilize spreadsheets to perform advanced-level document production including complex formatting of documents, creating charts, and establishing and maintaining databases.
  • Make and process travel, conference, hotel reservations and arrangements; schedule and confirm appointments; maintain calendars.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The work schedule is Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Over the summer the schedule changes to Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with Friday off.
