As carpenter, this position performs general carpentry (alterations, construction, repair, replace and installations), painting and plastering in administrative offices, academic and auxiliary buildings and at the university farm.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: constructs and/or repairs building frameworks and structures-such as stairways, door frames, window frames, moldings, partitions, and rafters-made from wood and other materials; install/replace/paint cabinets, siding and drywall, walls and floors; follow blueprints and building plans; measure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, and other materials; inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
Minimum Experience/Education
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines: Experience in the Trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
A diploma or certificate from a recognized trade, technical or vocational school with a major in carpentry, woodworking or cabinetmaking.
1-6 years of progressive experience in maintenance, alteration and repair of buildings, or in the fabrication of a variety of wooden articles and equipment.
Knowledge of the standard practices and methods of carpentry.
