Under the direction and coordination of a manager in the Nancy Thompson Learning Commons (NTLC), the Interactive Digital Information Resource for Engagement, Collaboration and Training (I-DIRECT) Student Academic Learning Support Associate (Professional Services Specialist IV) is responsible for performing basic professional functions in support of student success using established policies, procedures and guidelines to deliver direct student support and engagement. This includes, but is not limited to: coordination of evening facilities, services and activities related to all forms, types and deliveries of student learning support services all year and performing related work as required. Work schedules are assigned according to a shift/time that may be rotated at any time based on management’s discretion. Hours range from 6pm – 2am, Sunday to Thursday during the academic year fall/spring semesters and may be adjusted to 12 Noon – 8pm Monday to Friday during winter/summer hours of operation. However, a flexible schedule is required since hours will be assigned to accommodate student support services and extended facility hours. Full-time employees work thirty-five hours per week and part-time employees work three-quarter time (26.25) hours weekly. This position requires travel as needed to other Kean locations.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience in an institution of higher education or in education working in student support services, computer services or a related field is required. Prior work experience in a learning commons environment, in multimedia/digital services or IT in higher education is preferred. Candidate must demonstrate fluency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and a variety of hardware/software platforms and products (e.g., Blackboard) and portals that are used by students and faculty (e.g., Keanwise, TutorTrac). Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication skills are essential.
