The Office of Graduate Medical Education invites applications for the Human Resources Director position. As the Human Resources Director, you have a passion for engaging with employees to provide support during training program employment, using your creative problem solving skills to resolve challenges, collaborating with office colleagues and key business partners for advances with employment benefits and taking initiative with sharing ideas for process improvements. In this role, your primary focus will be on the oversight of human resources activities for two companies and one UB department and willing to handle day-to-day duties in active partnership with the GME human resources team and Dean's office resource management leaders. Your responsibilities include:
- Oversee health and welfare benefit plans for residency and fellowship employment corporations, including self-insured medical and dental plans, life insurances, long-term disability insurance, short-term disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, and workers’ compensation
- Oversee and conduct new hire onboarding, orientation and benefit enrollment processes for approx. 275 incoming residents and fellows and the completion processes for approx. 250 graduating residents and fellows on an annual basis
- Oversee H-1B and J-1 visa application processes for incoming and continuing residents and fellows in partnership with ECFMG and legal services agents
- Oversee resident and fellow background check process for criminal reports and drug tests. Work with human resources staff to order records, maintain files, review adverse records with Designated Institutional Official, legal counsel, and Advisory Review Committee to determine employment outcomes
- Oversee and conduct annual GME employee performance review process
- Oversee resident and fellow review process associated with academic and misconduct actions taken by training programs. Duties include reviewing and investigating review requests, providing guidance to parties involved in process, and counseling the reviewers on their roles and responsibilities
- Collaborate with the GME Lead Physician of Resident Employee Health Services and Senior Associate Dean/Designated Institutional Official to ensure compliance with legally mandated and site-specific employee health requirements
- Responsible for duties associated with First Assistant Secretary position of University Medical Resident Services, P.C. (UMRS) and University Dental Resident Services, P. C. (UDRS); including coordinating signatory process for tax filings
- Additional duties and details to be discussed during personal interview.
Salary Range: $80,000 - 90,000

About the Department The University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences annually trains 850 residents and fellows to become clinicians, researchers, teachers, and leaders in their fields. The University at Buffalo Office of Graduate Medical Education provides a variety of services to support the University’s residents and fellows during their training. Office work location is 7th floor suite within UB's Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences building, found on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.
