General Statement of Job

This role is typically engaged as the highest-level technology expert on a project team. Responsible for analyzing and translating business, information and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint that outlines solutions to achieve business objectives. Viewed as a technical expert and critical resource across multiple disciplines.

Description of Duties and TasksEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Understands business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state), and determines corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the organization’s targeted business outcomes.

Designs and leads the implementation of a solutions architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities and business requirements.

Manages and develops the architecture for a broader scope of projects, working closely with the individuals who manage and design the application architecture for a single project or initiative.

Provides consulting support to project teams to ensure application architecture is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture.

Understands technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.

Responsible for creating and maintaining current and future state documentation.

Partners with business analysts, systems analysts and engineers in requirements gathering and reviews.

Works with enterprise architecture, application and infrastructure teams to produce an optimal, high level, conceptual design for the project.

Develops enterprise level solutions that integrate across applications, systems and platforms.

Proposes changes in process, policy and standards as they relate to the architecture and design principles.

Researches and maintains knowledge in emerging technologies and solutions to solve business problems.

Understanding of application development methodologies, infrastructure, cloud, and network architectures.

Required Work Experience

Five years related work experience.

Preferred Work Experience

10 years related work experience.

Five years of progressively responsible IT experience, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving.

Five years successfully managing complex and risky projects.

Five or more years of BU or BU-facing experience, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving.

Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Education

Bachelor’s degree in business information systems (IS), computer science or related field, or equivalent related IT experience.

Special RequirementsLicenses/Certifications; Other

Valid Texas Driver’s License and reliable transportation for local Austin area travel.

Other Preferred Qualifications

ITIL Certification Preferred.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a standard office environment.

Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.

ACC Benefits Overview

Full-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.
ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by Federal law.
