Senior IT Cyber Security Analyst

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time


Reporting directly to the Information Security Officer (ISO), the Senior IT Cyber Security Analyst will: configure, maintain and monitor UVU's Next Generation campus firewalls, VM-firewalls, VPNs, IPS/IDS, DNS filtering, and web filtering systems; cross train on duties of the UVU Information Security Team to provide support to UVU when others on the team are not available; provide support on security issues and incident handling for all of campus; recommend and assist areas of campus on security solutions and implementation of those solutions.

Required Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited institution with a maters degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Accounting, or technology-related field plus two years of experience OR any combination of related education and experience totaling eight years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to collaborate with others and work in a team environment as a team player..
Knowledge and experience with operating systems and protocols used within organizations these include: Windows 10, Mac OSX, 2012 and 2016 Server, and Linux.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Knowledge of all aspects of configuring and maintaining systems security, network security, and site security for information systems.
Ability to learn and implement new technology.
Ability to work independently without supervision.
Knowledge of Next Generation Firewalls, Nessus, Snort, Wireshark, IDS, IPS, VPN, Nmap, Malware, Anti-virus, and systems firewalls.
Skill and expertise in TCP/IP and in each of the seven layers of the OSI Networking model, software and networking technologies, protocols, and operating systems.
Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures within specialty area.

Preferred Qualifications:

Industry certifications are preferred but not required such as CISSP, CISA, and CISM, SANS Certifications, and/or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Security +, and Microsoft Certifications.

General office environment.

FLSA: Exempt

Pay Range: $60,258 - $94,225 DOQ
