Department Summary

The University of North Texas Mayborn School of Journalism in the College of Liberal Arts and seeks a television studio and production supervisor who has TV, news and live production and technical skills to oversee its television studio, access television channel DCTV, production products, as well as helps with the operation and management of a field production truck.
Position Overview
The University of North Texas Mayborn School of Journalism in the College of Liberal Arts and seeks a television studio and production supervisor who has TV, news and live production and technical skills to oversee its television studio, access television channel DCTV, production products, as well as helps with the operation and management of a field production truck.
This position is responsible for the coordination of multimedia systems and their applications including live and taped events and newscast delivery, broadcast crew duties, commercial production and supervision of part-time student employees and students in a studio setting. This position also aids in student and community client productions. Person must possess the skills to help execute the production-side of live shows, including newscasts and sports, as well as train students on how to use the live/control room equipment. This position plans and organizes studio and production schedules, assesses project and resource requirements, and oversees and takes part in production processes such as pre and post-production as well as part of a live news and live field production crews. This position will operate and troubleshoot technical equipment.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and two years of audio/visual media experience or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with AV equipment and systems and digital platforms, including setup and maintenance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships in a customer service environment.
  • Ability to keep, and to supervise the keeping of, complex records through electronic formats.
  • Ability to learn and retain university and departmental policies and procedures; names of key departmental people; locations of departments, buildings, rooms, equipment, etc.
  • Knowledge of safety and security measures appropriate to work performed.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with live and produced television programming, including setup, execution, post production and maintenance of equipment.
