Research Technician – Research Administration, School of Dental Medicine – (21001214)
This is a limited term position for 1 year. This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week.
Dr. Addy Alt-Holland’s lab at TUSDM is dedicated to conducting ethical research in skin and oral cancer, with main interests in bioengineered tissue models of human premalignant and malignant tissues, identification of novel molecular targets for cancer therapy, and predictive and prognostic biomarkers for cancer development and regression.
Under supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician will conduct a variety of routine experiments by following established procedures and protocols including, but not limited to, a variety of in vitro analytical assays, tissue culture work, and other laboratory techniques. The tools and methods routinely employed in the lab include electrophoresis, microscopy, immunofluorescence procedures and analyses, cell and tissue culture and working in sterile environments. Additional approaches used in this lab are NMR spectroscopy and metabolomics of culture samples and clinical specimens. Other research duties include recording research results and analyzing data using statistical analysis tools, as well as monitoring cell and tissue cultures under different growth conditions. Additionally, the Research Technician will monitor laboratory operations by maintaining laboratory equipment and needed inventory, managing lab space and cleanliness, following laboratory safety protocols and performing other duties as required. The Research Technician will also assist in the activities of research students and interns in the lab, as needed.
Bachelor’s or M.S. degree in science.
Previous laboratory experience and ability to work independently is a plus.
Hands-on experience with basic laboratory techniques and procedures, nuclear magnetic resonance equipment, programs and terminology.
Capable of time management, good organizational skills, and can work independently as well as in a team under the supervision of the PI.
Must have basic computer skills – spreadsheets, power point presentations, and word documents.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are important. This position requires continuous interaction with many types of employees and research students.
