The person in this position would be a key member of the Development Communications team and would serve as a communications and marketing strategist, writer and content producer for fundraising print and digital communications for the university as a whole. In addition to concepting, writing and editing general fundraising collateral, this position will focus specifically on communications and marketing for the Office of Gift Planning and the Auburn University Real Estate Foundation to help increase philanthropic estate gifts and gifts of property to Auburn University. It is a position that requires a particular skill set in understanding how to interpret data on consumer/donor behavior, how to segment audiences according to this behavior, and subsequently, create and implement effective communications strategy to achieve the fundraising goals of Auburn’s Office of Development.
Serves as a liaison with the Office of Gift Planning and the president of the Auburn University Real Estate Foundation to devise a comprehensive and robust communications strategy to support fundraising goals and increase philanthropic support through estate gifts and gifts of real property. Implements a holistic marketing strategy based on specific audiences and creates relevant, inspiring content to increase awareness and philanthropic support in the areas of planned gifts and real estate gifts.
Develops a plan for audience segmentation and appropriate messaging and develops a strategy for implementation and assessment of deliverables. Utilizes information and understanding of the types of donor, including current donors, Tier I prospects, and Tier II prospects to create relevant correspondence; compelling stories of donor gifts and impact; newsletters, both print and digital; segment-appropriate mailings; direct mail marketing collateral, and donor communications targeted to members of Auburn’s George Petrie Donor Society and the Foy Society.
Coordinates and oversees the work of contracted marketing vendors with expertise in these areas to ensure an effective overall marketing strategy. Initiates regular meetings with various vendors, project management associated marketing initiatives, ensures the quality of deliverables, and maintains timelines and deadlines.
Serves as a communications and marketing subject matter expert for the Office of Development and it’s units, providing expertise and guidance on a variety of fundraising communications. Provides strategy for appropriate communications to achieve goals and maintain consistent fundraising messaging. Concepts, creates and edits a wide range of donor-centered communications to include major gift proposals, solicitations and impact reports; helps create marketing strategies for initiatives and campaigns, videos, and other fundraising deliverables.
