The role of the graduate assistant involves overseeing building operations of the student center including all aspects of building operations, and support in supervision of student building managers in the 18,382 square feet two-story student center. Ensure the building is well maintained, assist building managers when necessary, and support social and recreational activities in the building.


  • Coordinate building manager work schedules to reflect the operational hours of the South Village Student Center
  • Maintain inventory and maintenance of audio-visual equipment such as laptops, mobile charging devices, HDMI cables, card swipes, board games, etc. located at the information center desk for community members to borrow.
  • Maintain supplies for bike station (Gompei's Gears) and tool kits for bike repair at the student center.
  • Support recreational programming and operational oversight in the facility.
  • Perform routine building rounds and communicate any request for repairs to Facilities Services.
  • Ensure proper card access is maintained for WPI employees and building managers through communication with the IT Helpdesk and Card Access System.
  • Schedule and post building hours of operation on the Student Center webpage and on doors at entrance points.
  • Ensure computer equipment in the Esports Lounge is working properly. Report and schedule computer maintenance with IT Helpdesk for computer hardware and software in the Esports Lounge.
  • Assist in assessment strategies for the building's use, operation, and effectiveness.
  • Ensure office and printer supplies are in stock and available for community use.
  • Implement emergency procedures following emergency announcements, evacuations, power shutdowns, etc.
  • Support the planning and execution of winter and end of the year employee socials
  • Perform other duties as assigned to maintain an optimal work, educational, and recreational environment at the student center.

Preferred skills: dedicated, person-centered approach, strong organizational skills, initiative, enthusiastic, communication, program planning skills, and project management

Bachelor's Degree Required and must be an enrolled student in a graduate program.
