Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree and two years of progressive supervisory/managerial public safety experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Additional Education and Experience will be necessary for progressive steps (Journey and Advanced). Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission or the ability to achieve certification within one year of employment. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Ten years of law enforcement experience, five of which should have been supervisory in nature {or equivalent)

Advanced Law Enforcement Certification from Training and Standards

Law Enforcement Executive Management Training

Primary Purpose of Position
The specific responsibilities of this position is to manage the deployment of sworn uniformed police officers and to develop strategies for the delivery of police services in accordance with nationally recognized standards and also to manage the response and activities of the investigative division and ensure case management and investigation of reported criminal offenses and concerning behaviors and all other duties as assigned by the Chief

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The North Carolina A&T State University Police Department (UPD) includes a staff of over 100 sworn and non-sworn personnel, organized into several areas: Office of the Chief, Administrative Services, Support Services, Patrol, CID (Criminal Investigations Division), K-9, Emergency Management, Telecommunications, Accreditation, Property Security Officers and Contracted Security.
