General Statement of Job
To advise, assist, and support academically and/or economically disadvantaged students and students with disabilities.
Description of Duties and TasksEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides campus leadership, vision and integrity for Student Accessibility Services and Support Center.
Directs day-to-day business of campus SAS and Support Center offices, providing services to students with disabilities and/or economically and academically challenged students.
Determines eligibility for Support Center services.
Approves appropriate and reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities.
Provides counseling for Support Center eligible students, either individually or in groups, including career and educational planning, decision making, values clarification, and understanding and overcoming barriers to academic success.
May provide academic counseling and advising, including course selection, degree planning, review of transfer information, and determination of ultimate employment objectives.
Analyzes information about individuals through interviews, assessments, and records, including disability documentation to appraise their interests, abilities, and potential barriers to academic success.
Provides case management services through on-going contact and follow up with students, and coordinates referrals to college and community services as needed.
Serves as liaison between childcare provider, student, and ACC to insure payments and contracts are being fulfilled.
Selects and recommends textbooks to be purchased for the Support Center Textbook Collection.
Gathers and updates data, analyzes, and incorporates data in working on solutions for students to improve case management.
Monitors the effectiveness of student accommodations in the educational process. Also monitors academic progress of SAS and Support Center students, and intervenes when appropriate or when improvement is needed.
Collaborates with external stakeholders including school districts, high school transition programs, disability related state agencies, and state employment agencies in order to create effective and efficient processes for student recruitment, retention, and placement.
Maintains collaborative and consultative relationships with internal stakeholders at Austin Community College including faculty and staff.
Participates in program planning, development, and documentation. Supports the development, review and revision of written policies, guidelines and procedures for SAS and Support Center.
May assist with the application, award, and/or administration of Financial Aid.

Texas Health and Human Services Navigator Training and Certification to complete SNAP, TANF and Medicaid applications.

Required Work Experience
Two years related work experience.
Preferred Work Experience
Two years related experience working with people with disabilities or economically disadvantages people in a variety of settings, including higher education.
Master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field.
Other Preferred Qualifications
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW).
Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.
Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

ACC Benefits Overview
Full-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.
ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by Federal law.
