Undergraduate Regional Admissions Counselor

The Undergraduate Regional Admissions Counselor (Professional Services Specialist IV) reports to the Director of Freshman Admissions and is responsible for proactively recruiting undergraduate students who do not live in New Jersey; building a market for Kean outside of New Jersey; performing basic professional functions using established policies, procedures, precedents and guidelines; and does related work as required. The Counselor provides essential student support services and excellent customer service to prospective and current Kean University students and their families.

This is a twelve-month position that requires extensive travel, driving short and long distances and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. This position works remotely and will require travel to the New Jersey Kean campuses, in addition to multiple recruitment locations.
The position is responsible for covering territories in Maryland, Washington DC and Pennsylvania. The employee will be required to follow all COVID procedures and protocols set forth in the University’s Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree; one year of professional experience in an enrollment management area in an institution of higher education or working directly with admissions, student recruitment and/or retention initiatives in a related field; transportation for recruitment travel; and a driver’s license valid in the State of New Jersey is required. Previous recruiter experience in an admissions office in an institution of higher education is preferred. Datatel Colleague and Ellucian Recruiter experience is also preferred. Essential job functions include the ability to walk long distances; standing for long periods; lifting, handling and transporting recruitment materials and equipment; and driving. Traveling will require the ability to drive for short and extended periods of time. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
