Job Summary:

The Graduate Admissions Coordinator will be involved in graduate admissions operations and recruitment and will carry out duties and responsibilities with limited-to-no supervision. This person's knowledge of academic and graduate student affairs, complex departmental and divisional academic functions, and student services enables the SONHP Dean's Office to serve students, applicants, and faculty more effectively. The Graduate Admissions Coordinator will work closely with the academic departments, faculty, administrators and students and will suggest and support business processes, technological, or other organizational changes to continuously improve admission department functionality. The Coordinator is responsible for reviewing applicant/student degrees and must therefore be knowledgeable in admission and college academic requirements at accredited colleges and universities. The Coordinator must assist in maintaining applicant files and records, prepare and customize data for faculty and departmental use, and ensure all data is compliant with University policy. In this capacity, the Coordinator serves as an important liaison between applicants and faculty. The Coordinator is further responsible for planning and assisting with departmental events such

Job Responsibilities:

" Process applications throughout the application cycle, paying special attention to troubleshooting any issues delaying completeness, review or enrollment
" Experience with Banner and admission related software such as Slate
" Evaluate transcripts, school accreditations, courses and overall applicant quality
" Coordinate, generate, and review weekly reports on admission and office activities; track and report on admission and deposits
" Maintain admission process guidelines, providing staff training as necessary
" Communicate with graduate applicants in-person, by phone or email as needed
" Provide graduate admission and enrollment reports to the deans and directors as required or requested
" Maintain office procedures for efficient processing of graduate rolling admission applications
" Serve as liaison and resource person to graduate applicants, graduate departments, faculty, administrators and staff for graduate office admissions information
" Maintain updated information on admission requirements and procedures at the University, college, and department level as well as pre-requisite information for prospective graduate students
" Assist in special departmental and university-wide graduate admissions-related projects
" Data entry and management using computerized database, word processing and spreadsheet software; review data input for accuracy and completeness
" Able to effectively prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency
" Maintain a filing system for electronic and applicant records
" Actively communicate and update staff and faculty on the status of applications or individual applicants via verbal and written communication
" Have initiative in anticipating and responding to program needs based on awareness of routine and repeated job functions
" Attend regular meetings (weekly or monthly)
" Communicate with departments as needed
" Provide training in admissions policies and procedures especially to new department chairs
" Ability to handle confidential information
" Other projects as requested by the supervisor

Minimum Requirements:

" Post high school education preferred
" Training or experience equivalent to five years of increasingly responsible work experience in a senior support role or related education
" Ability to work with minimal supervision
" Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite or similar programs. Detail oriented and highly organized, with ability to balance competing priorities. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills, including the ability to work with a highly diverse population of students, staff and faculty. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to exchange non-routine information using tact and persuasion and the ability to work with a highly diverse constituency
" Ability to travel for recruitment purposes to conferences and other events as needed
