The AmeriCorps VISTA at Bryant University will collaborate with stakeholders on and off campus to support a successful project that focuses on supporting the external aspects of student leadership and community partnerships. The VISTA will work to advance the objectives of their role and connect them with the long-term vision of Community Engagement at Bryant University. Their work will incorporate a priority anti-poverty focus on the areas of education and economic opportunity. Ultimately, a successful VISTA will develop the capacity of the organizations they work with (including Bryant) as they seek to create sustainable solutions that empower communities. In the area of external partnerships, the primary function of the VISTA will be to support the creation of a formalized Partnership Development Program (PDP).
This role will be divided into two main areas. First, the VISTA, in conjunction with partners, will work to create a framework (blueprint) for formalized partnerships between Bryant and the non-profit sector. This will include creating a system of interventions that focus on efficiency, sustainability, reciprocity, and assessment.
Second, the VISTA will work with a selection of "pilot partners" that will utilize the PDP to work toward implementing the interventions and achieving the objectives that are outlined. In the area of external leadership, the VISTA will work to develop a framework of leadership development opportunities that connect students and organizations with the surrounding community and non-profit partners.
