Overview

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers undergraduate and graduate programs in human factors engineering and mechanical engineering with over 350 students enrolled in our academic programs each year. The mission of the department is to graduate students with a sound basis for professional practice and a career in lifelong learning. We do this through classroom experiences, individual advising, research opportunities, and open-ended, hands-on experiences.


What You'll Do

Train students and staff to use fabrication tools. Coordinate the overall operation and maintenance of the department machine shop and associated fabrication spaces.  Participate with faculty in planning and execution of fabrication laboratories and assignments. Partner with other department staff to support measurement and instrumentation laboratories. Promote diversity and inclusion within the department.


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, science or industrial design
  • One or more years of machine shop experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience coordinating laboratory operations and working with students   

Special Work Schedule Requirements:

Job requires on campus presence in order to run machines, coordinate safety, and maintain physical spaces.
