Position Title: COVID-19 Medical Assistant   (3 Positions)                      Department: COVID-19 Team

Status: Temporary Full-Time                                                                      FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (40 hours per week)

Special Qualifications:
In keeping with the President’s commitment to Tuskegee University becoming "One Tuskegee",  the ideal COVID-19 Medical Assistant will possess the willingness to use their expertise in transforming Tuskegee into a leading 21st century living and learning environment.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities:
This position has been developed to assist with performing on-site and off-site medical testing specifically for COVID-19 as a means of prevention of spread. COVID Medical Assistant will use their medical experience and skills to perform onsite testing for COVID-19 and clinical related administrative tasks.

Put on and remove personal protective equipment (PPE) Enter patient data in medical system Monitor inventory of tests and supplies Conduct COVID testing Participate in COVID-Task force meetings and training Setup, and breakdown the equipment for events, sample collection handling, and repack the equipment at the end of the event Label, collect, and process patient specimen to ensure accurate test results Complete pre-visit planning Assist clients in completing the medical history and medical program intake forms, and/or consents, ensuring that the patient understands when obtaining a patient signature Perform all duties within HIPAA regulations Liaise between medical departments and offsite organizations with discretion and professionalism Adhere to policy and procedures  Complete accurate documentation of patient visits Assist when needed to set up lab specimen pick up Assist when needed to transport specimens to appropriate lab Arrive early to set up testing event Conduct only work-related conversations when clients are waiting for service Ensure that people waiting for testing maintain social distancing in an orderly manner Assist with maintaining inventory and ordering of medical supplies Perform other duties assigned

Qualifications:

Completion of Medical Assistant Program Minimum of two years of experience CPR-Current Basic Life Support Certification Certification (CMA) and other National Certifications are preferred Experience in medical front office procedures preferred Experience with electronic health records desired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to always demonstrate the highest level of performance and behavior standards Ability to be a team player; support and assist team members Ability to relate and communicate well to all cultural and ethnic groups in the community

Special Requirements:

Must be able to travel Must have a reliable transportation Must have a valid driver license TB clearance

Salary:
Commensurate with education, training and experience

Additional Position Information:
This position requires weekend and after hours work job responsibilities.
This position requires travel.
This position is funded through restricted funding.
This is a temporary position and Funds availability will determine end date.
