Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
Issue traffic citations and arrest warrants
Respond to calls regarding disputes and advise subjects regarding appropriate behavior
Effect arrests and jail transports
Patrols assigned areas and investigate incidents
Conducts investigations as required; submits reports regarding criminal and administrative incidents
Directs vehicle and pedestrian traffic, crowd control during events
Responds to emergency situations and assists other law enforcement agencies as requested
Attend required annual training
Performs other related duties as assigned and must be able to work various shifts as assigned
Must be a team player
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Successful passing of mental, drug, or physical agility tests if required
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must be able to work various shifts as assigned
Must possess a valid Alabama Pistol Permit and Driver’s License
Ability to administer first aid or CPR
Must complete the Alabama Police Academy within 6 months of employment; Prior certification preferred
Interpersonal skills needed to communicate with faculty, staff, students, and the public
Ability to operate the emergency equipment and firearms
Ability to recognize safety, security or health hazards
Exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crises situations
If the applicant does not have a college degree, the must submit passing results of the BAT as required by the Alabama Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission, available at any junior college.
