Position Summary
The University at Buffalo School of Nursing (UBSON) is seeking a motivated professional to support the Center for Nursing Research (CNR). Responsibilities will focus on working alongside members of the CNR and UBSON faculty, students, and staff with the goal of building and sustaining research initiatives. This position will directly support the Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship.

  • Provide administrative support to the Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship by seeing to: planning, document creation and preparation, editing, scheduling, communications, travel arrangement and reimbursement, copies, reception/hospitality, errands etc.
  • Provide professional support in the Center for Nursing Research (CNR) and provide support for all CNR events, such as the annual Research Day, CNR Lunch and Learn series, the NURSE program, and co-sponsored events.
  • Work with the Center Manager and Manager for Research Advancement on general administrative functions in the CNR, including but not limited to: event planning, facilities, departmental calendar maintenance, and day-to-day departmental operations.
  • Manage the center’s print and electronic marketing and communication materials, updating the website, and facilitating media efforts.
  • Work collaboratively with the Center Manager and Manager for Research Advancement to provide information regarding policies and procedures and assist faculty in navigating the grant submission process. This includes expectations in terms of process steps, timelines, and turnaround. Work closely with the School’s finance staff to ensure smooth processes of purchasing, travel procurement, and expense reimbursement.
  • Collect information regarding faculty and students’ publications and presentations.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of grant proposals by providing general editing, formatting, and uploading of grant components. Assist faculty and research assistants with writing general content areas, providing basic editorial support, assembling proposal components (bio-sketches, approvals and letters of support), and proposal submission. Provide editing services to faculty looking to submit manuscripts for publication.
  • Assist with grant projects as assigned by the Project Director, including but not limited to: coordinating behavioral health training; collecting survey data and arranging focus groups; traveling to different clinical sites for community engagement; developing a database to track student progress through IPE curriculum and student clinical rotation completion rates; developing and implementing a media plan and community outreach plan for the behavioral health integration; coordinating travel/conference plans and maintaining purchase and reimbursement records; assisting with IRB application revision, continuing review, and final reports; assisting in the planning and preparation of budget requests; and performing routine monthly progress reports for internal and external purposes. Responsible for community outreach activities and regular communication with clinical partners.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must be able to travel to various clinical sites
  • One year experience in an office environment requiring multi-tasking skills to effectively complete assignments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience assisting faculty and students with research in an academic setting
  • Experience editing grants and manuscripts
  • Experience with database and website development and management
  • Experience in the field of mental health services
