The office of the Department of Biomedical Sciences provides administrative support for faculty and staff who teach, conduct research and provide diagnostic services to the small and large animal hospitals as well as outside organizations. Some of the courses have teaching laboratories as key components. Students are provided hands on opportunities to learn through these laboratories. Research areas include reproductive biology, neuroscience, and biotechnology. Diagnostic services are provided by the Section of Pathology. This section provides biopsy & necropsy services and operates clinical pathology and histology laboratories.
Setting up for the labs and exams which may include labeling of anatomy specimens. The embalming of donated animals, preparing dissected teaching specimens such as models, skeletons & plastinated specimens, ordering and receiving supplies, monitoring inventory, supervising and participating in clean up after the labs and exams. Responsible for the cleanliness of the labs. Distribute and collect teaching tools to the students. Maintain teaching tools and equipment used in the course and monitor building maintenance. Manage records for donation program. Supply tables and occasionally supplies, including cadavers, for student groups, AVM and CE.
