Position is an 12 month/40 hour per week. Primary responsibilities are to provide individual, couples, and group counseling using a brief treatment framework of counseling under the direct supervision of the Counseling Director. Crisis intervention is also an essential job duty for this position. Must be able to conduct appropriate assessments, provide feedback on these assessments, and give appropriate referrals for students who have needs exceeding the scope of work provided by Counseling Services. The counselor will also consult with Wellness Center providers regarding student needs. This person will provide coverage for the Counseling Director in their absence. Provide consultation services to concerned faculty, students, and staff. This position will see students mandated to attend counseling by the University. The counselor will work collaboratively with the Counseling Center staff, meeting weekly with the Counseling Director. Protocols are in place and will be followed as far as the State Board of Counseling. Will continue to keep current in counseling practices by attending professional conferences and training sessions, required for licensing. This position will require public presentations to various groups on and off campus by providing wellness education and outreach to students and staff in conjunction with Human Resources. This position requires some after-hours availability.
Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or related field. LAC- Licensed Associate Counselor in Arizona or LPC Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona or near completion is preferred. Experience in assessment, diagnosis, and implementation of interventions for depression, anxiety, alcohol/drug use/abuse, and developmental concerns frequently faced by college students is required. Must understand DSM-5, have familiarity with frequently used assessment tools such as the BDI, BAI, DES-11, AUDIT and /ADHD Amen checklist. Must be able to create and give public presentations.
Prefer minimum 2 years working experience in a university counseling center. Experience can be substituted with education. Experience working with many different facets of a college campus community. Experience providing services to a diverse population of students. Experience with college counseling programming, and working with adults in an out-patient setting.
All activities of the Mental Health Counselor will be overseen by the Counseling Director. Must be able to handle increased stress levels and multi task. Must be computer literate and able to work independently. Must be willing to learn and work well under direction of others. Will be responsible for presentations to ERAU campus. Will also work with local Psychologist and other providers for evaluations as needed.
Must be able to work closely with Counseling Center staff. A great sense of humor is a must! This is a team environment and flexibility is required.
Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Independent licensure in state of Arizona preferred.
At least 2 years of professional counseling experience in a higher education setting preferred.
