Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
The Gift Processor reports to the Gift Accountant, is responsible for processing gifts to the University, which are received in various forms from various sources and are processed and distributed to various designations. Responsibilities include:
Scrutinizing all gifts, including matching corporate gifts, for proper processing, posting pledges and payments, and reconciling and balancing gift batches
Capturing, processing and archiving credit card transactions resulting from telemarketing services and from fundraising websites and contacts donors regarding issues, including declined credit cards
Creating donor records when needed to facilitate gift processing
Archiving all gift information by computerized scanning and filing; uses various reports and information from databases for review and correction and pays particular attention to detail and accounting principles that are essential to process gifts according to donor intentions in a timely and accurate manner that is mandated by professional and legal requirements.
During the crucial calendar year-end period, Gift Processing staff often work on days when the University is closed in order to process and acknowledge gifts according to legally specified time limits.
Perform all other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in any related field
Substantial experience in Raisers Edge database and cash handling
Operational knowledge of gift processing systems and related guidelines
Strong knowledge of gift acceptance and governing guidelines from CASE and IRS
Familiarity about financial reporting and accounting principles
Commensurate with education, training and experience
