Managing Assistant Director of Recreational/External Affairs
The Managing Assistant Director of Recreational/External Affairs (Managing Assistant Director 2) is a member of the Department of Athletics and Recreation and helps to provide a vibrant and exciting campus life for Kean University students. Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics, this position manages staff and student workers, various daily/event operations and programs for campus recreation including, but not limited to: open gym and pool hours, intramurals and other related activities.
The Managing Assistant Director is responsible for planning and managing the operations of all intercollegiate events and programs, wellness/special events and community client rentals for all athletic facilities. Additionally, this position will manage external affairs and other areas as assigned for the Department. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college; two years of professional experience in sports management; and valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required. A Master’s degree and experience with supervising athletic facilities, operations and game management at the collegiate level is preferred. This position also requires the ability to perform essential functions including, but not limited to: the ability to physically lift, position, move and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; walking long distances/standing for long durations of time outdoors/indoors in varied temperatures; and exposure to high noise levels. Candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills.
