Position Summary
This position creates and manages a portfolio of programs and services in support of career and professional development for campus staff.

Responsibilities
Applies professional training and development skills to resolve and address a wide range of training issues and needs assessments.
- Collaborates with campus partner SMEs and POD (People & Organization Development) teammates to create training efforts that will address issues that have limited the success of campus staff and managers.
Develops new training programs and courses in response to organization's training needs.
- Collaborates with campus partners and POD teammates to design, market and deliver career and professional development programs and initiatives within the work portfolio assigned to this role.
- Coordinates program delivery using self and/or partner SMEs as needed.
Designs and conducts more complex training programs to address issues of diverse scope that are aligned with organization strategies.
- Coordinates with campus partners and POD teammates to understand workforce challenges.
- Collaboratively builds career and professional development programs and initiatives to address discovered challenges.
Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for delivering training and development programs.
- Coordinates with campus partners and POD teammates to determine the scope and modality of programs/initiatives that fall into the work portfolio assigned to this role.
- May assist with or lead website and newsletter creation for select programs using University approved technologies.
Interacts with senior internal and external personnel.
Normally receives little direction regarding on-going training assignments.
Receives general instructions on new training program assignments, projects and initiatives.
- Works with the Director of People & Organization Development to expand the impact of the career and professional development portfolio by adding new programs, courses, and initiatives to the work portfolio.
Conducts needs analysis and evaluates effectiveness of training programs.
- Works with campus partners and POD teammates to conduct training and development needs analysis to ensure proposed career and professional development programs meet campus needs.
- Using POD approved evaluation questions: creates, distributes, collects, analyzes, and makes adjustments to programs using Qualtrics (or other University approved technology) evaluations.
Works in a collaborative manner with others in a diverse environment and at all levels in the organization to prioritize work assignments, conduct analysis and develop recommendations.
Assumes responsibility for specific training programs and initiatives. Programs in this portfolio currently include, but are not limited to:
- Skills for Success Program.
- NOW Conference Planning Committee and Lead for Coaching HQ.
- UC Peer Connection Community.
- the Berkeley Staff Fellowship program.
- MSAP (MSAP (Management Skills Assessment Program).
- 1:1 career coaching.
- Focused 90 coaching.
- KF 360 coaching.
- the Berkeley Transferable Skills Library.
- Grow Your Journey career pathway creation.
- Select Career and Professional Development workshops and collaboration with select POD team members as a SME for other portfolios, such as Berkeley People Management.
- Acts as the People & Organization Development liaison and program champion for BSAs Career Development and Mentorship Committee.
Applies project and program management practices.
Applies workplace learning and performance strategies for training solutions.
Continuing Professional Development.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of functional area and understands how work may impact other areas.
- Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and strong presentation skills.
- Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of delivering training programs and thorough knowledge of other areas of human resources.
- Thorough knowledge of current training programs and trends.
- Strong skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new training courses to meet organizational needs.
- Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems; i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
- Strong skills in planning, resourcing and monitoring effective delivery of training.
- Thorough knowledge of applying adult learning theories and education methodologies.
- Thorough knowledge of training and development, performance management and workplace learning. Ability to apply knowledge to achieve successful organizational outcomes.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted annual salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $86,700.00 - $114,900.00.
- This is a full-time, Career position that is eligible for full UC benefits.
- This is an exempt, monthly-paid position.
